New Species of Sweeper Fish Discovered in Indian Ocean
Pempheris flavicycla has been discovered in the seas off Oman, Tanzania, Kenya, Seychelles, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and islands of the Andaman Sea. It has a yellow body and a bright yellow ring around the pupil of its eye. The yellow ring gives it its name of flavicycla. It dwells in shallow coral reefs in water less than 15m in depth.
